Yo,

A few days ago, I received Space Kelly’s “My Favourite Songbook Vol.2” in the mail

I was happy cos’:

it’s a cover/tribute project, and we definitely share the same pop sensibility (Cyrkle, Roger Nichols & Co, Graham Nash…)
SP & his band are very cool guys, we met in Korea, had a great time together (we survived one perticular Korean meal that tasted like a cold preparation for crêpes, yummy!)
I happened to write the liner notes for their new album…

Here’s one of my fav covers from the Vol2, it’s a song originally sung by Steve Lawrence called “I’m Gonna Find Her”. It was quite a surprise for me, because I’d never heard of both (the songs & the artist), I’m sure that the lovely bv’s will make your heart melt and your eyes water…

Hi there,

‘Don’t know if you followed our latest adventures, but “Activity Center” our 4th album is done. (applause!) It took 3 months to complete it. Starting with a few cosmetic and gear changes at Tahitilab, and finishing with a crazy work schedule when Pedro was mixing some songs while I was putting the last touches to other ones. Pretty schizophrenic! It was exhausting, but it was definitely worth it. We’re extremely proud of it.

Here’s the story, we recorded 13 songs at our studio in rouen. Pedro & I produced the sessions. You’ll find 12 ditties on the L.P (yep, we’ll print a vinyl version of it). here’s the sequence:

1) 24 x 7 Boy
2) Unpredictable
3) All around
4) Brazil
5) Fire escape
6) One parachute
7) Tune in
8) Dream on
9) White noise
10) Come around
11) Whistle
12) Ear to the ground

The bonus track is called Too Close To The Sun.

For the lucky ones who happened to be At Evreux’s Rock Dans Tous Ses Etats, we performed the whole album (minus Ear To The Ground). We enjoyed it a lot, it was fun (except for one constant extremely loud buzz which fucked up my right ear….hopefully, I’ll recover….). People seemed to dig it.

For this occasion, Mehdi from Fugu was T80’s 5th member as a keyboardist and backing vocalist.

The artwork is done too. We once again worked with our historical designer, the ever elegant Laurent Fétis. The cover photograph was shot by the talented Swede André Wolff.

Coming next, a few shows before the release of the album (SEPTEMBER 22nd), we’ll keep you posted.

Hi there,

Pedro & I just got back from Globe Audio , Bordeaux where we have mastered our new album. It Turned out great I think.
Last nite, we even managed to have dinner with our friends from Calc.
Next thing is getting the sleeve done(we shot the pictures last week at Laurent Fetis’s apartment with André Wolff)…Yeah, we’re almost there.

HI,

so, we’re putting the final touches to our album…I re-sang a few lines, we added a few bells and whistles (organs mainly)…and tonite, I’ve just finished the lead and (numerous) BV’s (I can’t believe how many backing vocals I’ve recorded on this album). I’m HAPPY!

It will feature a unique telephone conversation between the great Timothy Keegan and myself with the help of Mederic (the human stand) & Robin the assistant turned engineer.
